Sobre este episodio

The parashiot Ajarei Mot–Kedoshim establish the foundations of the Kedushá (holiness) of the people of Israel through atonement and ethical conduct. Ajarei Mot details the service of Yom Kipur, during which the Cohen Gadol performs sacrifices and sends away the “scapegoat” to bear the sins of Israel, while Kedoshim commands the people to be holy through the observance of social and ritual mitzvot. Together, these sections teach that holiness is not limited to rituals but is achieved by integrating spirituality with morality and social justice in everyday life. From a deeper perspective, these parashiot are not merely ritual laws but a guide for elevating consciousness and rectifying desire. Ajarei Mot represents cleansing the past through atonement, while Kedoshim represents building the future through a life of active holiness. First Aliyah: “Access to the Presence: Reverence, Atonement, and Transformation” The first aliyah opens with a solemn warning: “After the death of Aharon’s two sons...,” establishing that closeness to HaShem does not eliminate the need for reverence—it intensifies it. Access to the Presence of HaShem is neither casual nor emotional; it is ordered, holy, and deeply structured. Aharon may not enter the Holy of Holies at any time “lest he die,” demonstrating that holiness involves clear boundaries. The process includes rigorous preparation: washing, linen garments, and sacrifices. Holiness is not impressed by appearance but by obedience. The two male goats reveal a dual dimension of atonement: sin is both covered and removed. Confession is essential because sin must be acknowledged before restoration can occur.
