More Than A Name

Some failures don’t just affect what we’ve done—they affect how we’re seen. In this message, I walk through Paul’s letter to Philemon and the powerful story of Onesimus, a man whose past threatened to define his future until grace intervened. We explore how failure can reduce people to labels, and how the gospel does more than forgive—it restores identity, dignity, and relationship. Through Paul’s advocacy, we see a picture of Christ’s work on our behalf: grace that doesn’t erase responsibility, but redeems it, and restoration that goes beyond the heart and into real relationships. If you’ve ever felt marked by your past or limited by a name you didn’t choose, this message is for you. The God of the second chance doesn’t just call us forgiven—He calls us restored, reconciled, and sent forward with purpose.
