Desafios en el diagnóstico Microbiológico en Resistencia Antimicrobiana
Sobre este episodio
MicroTalks: Conversations with experts beyond microbiology In our fourth episode, we address one of the major challenges in clinical microbiology today: timely diagnosis in the face of antimicrobial resistance 🧬⚡ In this episode, we speak with Dr. Lorena Díaz, a leading expert in clinical microbiology and bacterial resistance, who shares her perspective from MICROBR and the ICIM UDD on current microbiology practices and the key challenges associated with antimicrobial resistance. Today, we will focus specifically on the challenges associated with Gram-positive cocci such as Staphylococcus aureus , a key pathogen in clinical practice and in the evolution of antimicrobial resistance. We are also joined by TM, MSc. Sebastián Cifuentes, connecting from the southernmost part of the world, conducting research in Osorno and member of CLSI. Together, we will explore recent developments in antimicrobial resistance among Gram-negative bacilli (GNB), and how mechanisms such as ESBLs and carbapenemases are impacting routine diagnostics. A conversation on how to move toward faster, more accurate diagnostics with real impact on clinical decision-making.
