Teivo Teivainen on Struggles for Radical Democracy in Latin America
Sobre este episodio
¡Vótame en los Premios iVoox 2026! Since the first World Social Forum was organized in Porto Alegre in 2001, many things have changed for Latin American social movements. The emergence of left-leaning governments has been followed by new kinds of actions, such as the massive street mobilizations in Brazil in 2013 and, in a yet different form, in 2015. How to make sense of this change? What does it tell us about the future of democracy in Latin America? Lecturer: Teivo Teivainen is professor of World Politics at the University of Helsinki. Currently a research director at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies, he spent 2014 as visiting professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro. He has also worked as consultant for Swedish trade unions and SIDA.
